The first thing that you need to do
is protect the outdoor kitchen from
the elements. Depending on where you live, that may mean rain, sun, snow, hail,
or even a hurricane. It doesn't have to be that hard to erect a roof over the
kitchen, as it is a lot simpler than putting walls up. Any skilled handyman should
be able to accomplish the task, or if you are feeling up to the job, you can do
it yourself with a little help from some home improvement books that are
readily available.
Keep in mind that you don't even
need a cover at all if you purchase a grill that can move. These days, most of
them come with wheels on them, and 2 people should be able to maneuver a large
grill into the garage or storage shed for winter storage. Having said that, it
is definitely a pain to have to move such a large thing around often. It makes
much more sense to just cover it up when it isn't in use during the summer, and
then move it once in the fall.
If you take a look at some courtyard kitchen pictures, you will
see that a common theme is to use rocks in the design. You can get landscape
bricks that enable you to construct an entire kitchen area that covers
important things with the bricks. You can even get faux stone panels that fit
right onto the front of the bar fridge and other appliances. Doing so both
protects them and gives the kitchen an integrated look.
